Our Story

MEET TESSA
A yankee girl living in Charleston, SC. I have champagne taste on a beer budget; which is why I have a passion for doing it all myself. I love a bargain, and will search high and low, near and far to find it. When I’m not hunting for a steal I am being mom and wife (and tutor, and nurse, and maid, and chef, and…well you get the point) to Kennedy Love, Isla Grace, Peter Nincompoop, and the love of my life Jesse.

I have always had an interest in creating things with my hands. My very first furniture makeover was my freshman year of art school, and I haven’t stopped since. My mother, an interior designer, inspired my love of home decor and DIY. I hope I can inspire you with this blog.

MEET MELISSA
I am a Wife, a working Mother and I LOVE design and DIY. In my real life, I am a non-profit consultant and educator. I am also a procrastinator! My garage is filled with unfinished projects and I have a great passion for starting many projects at once (notice I said starting.) I hope this blog is a great way to motivate me to get my projects started and COMPLETED in a timely manner, but who am I kidding? You may see a bunch of 2-or 3-or even 4 part projects, but we will have fun along the way.

I would say my style is eclectic, a little edgy, a little country, and a little ethnic. Basically, I choose the things I think are beautiful and surround myself and my family with them. I definitely fall more on the casual and comfy side of things. Although I am inspired by high design, I don’t use it in my home. I have a chalkboard wall and icy mint paint in my kitchen and leather studded chairs in my den, if that gives you any idea. I am also inspired and have been told I have a knack for finding inspiration in objects, art, and images that I see. This is where I got the idea for the baby blue walls in my living room, paired with a tomato red hutch filled with favorite pictures, books, treasures and yes, the occasional nerf gun!

You will definitely see some pictures of my house along the way-and please, ignore the dollar store toys and paper cups full of who knows what that my twins make as experiments.
