I’m lucky enough to have an awesome husband who talked me into getting a small summer rental at the coast, in Southport, NC. Being landlocked for most of the year having grown up a Long Island girl is tough for me. We spend the week as landlubbers and every weekend head out to our spot. I’ve slowly been exploring the shops in town and finding lots of inspiration. My skin is brown, my Mom game is on point and I’m feeling pretty awesome. My creativity always seems to soar during these times in life. I’ve been so inspired by the amazing artists in town, the little consignment and resale shops and all of the people wanting to share their stories. I hope to post about this little town a lot over the coming weeks. For today, I want to share some images that have inspired some ideas for projects.

Look at these beautiful painted pine cone “flowers.” One of my twins was a fan too and it’s a project we can definitely do together. He is very artistic and loves sharing craftiness with me.

My next inspiration piece is this lampshade made with Mardi Gras beads. How clever! I’m not a fan of the assorted colors, but would love to pick one or two colors to try my hand at this. Especially with a wonderful thrift store lamp painted a funky color!

I loved this simple star made with paint sticks. Looks like a wash or stain was used to give this a weathered look. This also got my wheels turning about what other items could be made with paint sticks! I’m sure there are tons of projects on Pinterest.

The final picture made me laugh. This rope was coiled up and was listed for $36. I’m pretty sure I can buy this at the hardware store for less.
