Laundry rooms don’t have to be forgotten when it comes to style and design. Since my laundry room was such a small space I thought I would do something a little out of the box. Using paints and supplies I already had I was able to add an eye catching accent wall. The cabinet ($25) and shelves ($3 for all) were purchased from my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. This was an easy project that could be accomplished over a weekend. It added both function and style. Now I don’t have to dread doing laundry…but I still do.

I started with painting the whole room white. It instantly felt cleaner and brighter. It was a little boring though so I decided to add an accent wall. I love herringbone! It is a simple process to create using a level, ruler and painters tape. I measured down the middle, and then measured half of that, making four equal sections. Then I made a mark every six inches, and made diagonal lines with painter’s tape. I painted different sizes and colors to give it some more visual interest.
